Nadaburg Unified School District

Stronger Schools, Brighter Futures: Investing in Nadaburg Students

Vote YES on the BOND!

WHY NUSD NEEDS A BOND

Nadaburg Unified School District is experiencing rapid student enrollment growth and faces challenges from aging infrastructure and insufficient state funding.

NUSD is located in one of Maricopa County’s fastest-growing regions, serving families in Surprise, Wittmann, and surrounding unincorporated areas.

Over the past five years, district enrollment has increased by 55%, ranking third highest among all school districts in Maricopa County. Growth projections for the Wittmann area forecast an additional 21,000 residents in just 4-5 years, meaning more students for our schools.

Many of the district’s facilities are more than 25 years old and in dire need of repairs and upgrades. This is due to aging infrastructure and insufficient funding from the Arizona School Facilities Board, which has not provided adequate funding for renovations or facility upgrades in the past seven years.

That is why the Nadaburg Unified School District Governing Board has called for a $15 million bond election.

WHY VOTE YES

Passing the bond will enable critical investments in student safety, educational opportunities, and long-term infrastructure at Desert Oasis Elementary School, Nadaburg Elementary School, and Mountainside High School.

The bond will provide funding for:

  • Classrooms and flexible learning spaces modernization

  • Technology upgrades and enhancement of digital learning infrastructure

  • Security upgrades and emergency response system enhancements

  • Installation of security fencing

  • Playground and athletic facility improvements at both elementary schools, including seating and shade structures

  • High school program facility improvements, including bleachers and sand volleyball

  • School grounds and facility improvements to ensure accessible, well-maintained campuses for all students

  • Purchase of new student transportation vehicles to replace aging buses that no longer meet current safety and environmental standards

  • Acquisition and installation of a portable building to serve middle school students at Desert Oasis Elementary School

  • Replacement of aging HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems

  • Installation of ADA-compliant doors and ramps

By voting YES on the bond, we are making a fiscally responsible investment in the future – ensuring that Nadaburg’s schools remain safe, modern, and ready to serve today’s students and the next generation.

THE COST TO YOU

The issuance of the new bonds will require adding an estimated $0.49 per $100 of limited assessed value to the district tax rate. This addition is estimated to cost approximately $93 per year for an average homeowner. The added rate is expected to go down over time as more homes are built within the district.

The district’s total tax rate will be lower in 2025 than in 2024, regardless of the bond vote, since the temporary increase to pave the road near Mountainside High School has ended and the expected reduction is worth about $325 per year to the average homeowner.

WHY NUSD MATTERS

Nadaburg Unified School District has provided a quality education for every student, every day, for more than 100 years.

NUSD plays a vital role in our community, helping to shape the quality of life for all residents. Strong schools:

  • Equip students with the skills and support they need to thrive

  • Protect property values

  • Make neighborhoods safer

  • Attract families and businesses that seek quality education

IMPACT OF A FAILED BOND

Without passage of the bond, the district will not be able to:

  • Invest in technology and infrastructure to enhance digital learning

  • Add additional security features such as cameras on campuses and playgrounds

  • Fund critical infrastructure improvements to playground equipment, athletic facilities, and school grounds

  • Continue providing transportation for all students, rather than potentially losing routes for athletics, after-school programs, and extracurricular clubs

  • Address aging facilities, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems

If we fail to pass the bond, NUSD will face even greater challenges in sustaining quality education as enrollment rapidly increases.
